Volkswagen Thing for Sale

VW Thing in GreenVW Thing in Orange
The VW Thing, also known by the names of Trekker, Safari, and Kurierwagen, was produced by Volkswagen between the years of 1969 and 1983. The Thing was began as a project to create a vehicle somewhat like America's Jeep: a somewhat amphibious "go anywhere" type vehicle that could be used for the military. Like the Jeep, it also was made available for sale to the normal public.

If The Thing looks to you like it might be designed off the Beetle, then you would be correct. The engineers used schematics for the Beetle to design the body of The Thing!
